Located in Northeast Missouri, wedged between Western Illinois and Southern Iowa, Chariton Ridge Outfitters have hunting area in Adair and Macon Counties, Missouri's Best Big Buck Producers in the heart of the Midwest. This is a great Deer and Turkey Country. Offering quality fair chase deer hunts, archery, muzzle loader and limited rifle hunts. Spring and fall turkey hunts. On private leases with quality deer management practices and in the fifth year of antler point restriction, at least four points on one side mandated by state law, these efforts are paying off with great results! Point restriction and quality deer management really work. Archery hunts run September 15-January 15. Over-the-counter tags include two buck tags and two turkey tags, one before rifle season and one after rifle season. Unlimited antler-less tags are available. Antler-less only hunts can also be arranged. Rifle hunts start on the 2nd Saturday in November and run for the following eleven days. Over-the-counter tags include one buck with at least four points on one side and unlimited antler-less tags. Muzzle loader hunts run eleven days in late November through early December. Over-the-counter tags include one antlered deer (four point rule) and unlimited antler-less tags. Scopes sabots and pellets all legal in Missouri's muzzle season. Deer hunts are tree stand only. Our stands are safe, well maintained and well placed. We have multiple stand sites, and several hunt areas. Use of safety straps is mandatory. Ground blinds with heaters are also available. Bobcats and coyotes are abundant, and may be taken through much of our fall hunting seasons by deer hunters. Spring turkey season runs three weeks, beginning mid-April through early May. Over-the-counter tags include two birds in a split season gobbler two inch beard. Hunting hours end at 1:00 P.M. daily for spring turkey season. Afternoons can be spent fishing and mushroom hunting. We have lots of good fishing in the area and can be easily arranged. Turkeys may be taken with bow or shotgun, run and gun or ground blind your choice. We have lots of birds, springtime in North Missouri is beautiful, such a nice time of the year to be in the woods, about as good as it gets, this is a great hunt. Fall turkey hunts, all archery tags include either sex turkey tags. Fall turkey shotgun hunts, either sex, runs the entire month of October. Over-the-counter tags are available, and its another great time of the year to be outdoors. Overlooking the scenic Chariton River Valley, out lodge is comfortable, warm and dry. Archery targets and fire pit in the yard, your basic country good time. Rifle range at the near by Sugar Creek State Forest is nice and handy. Our lodge is located 15 miles Southwest of Kirksville, Missouri, Northeast Missouri's largest town, which is not very large. However, we have daily air commuter service to and from Chicago and Kansas City near by. LaPlata has daily Amtrak Service from anywhere! Pickup from airport or train station is no problem. By car, Kirksville is 2 1/2 hours from St. Louis, Kansas City or Des Moines, Iowa. The lodge has a complete kitchen, fridge and freezer, or we can provide meals. The yarrow Country Tavern is just 2 miles away and has good food. We are flexible and can do whatever you want to fill your stomachs, or a combination of lodge, cooking, town and tavern. Hunts are five days, semi-guided, field transport and care of the game provided. Additional hunt days can be added, if scheduling allows. We are here to provide a quality hunting experience. The Chariton River Area produces some great bucks, even more so now with the antler point restriction. We offer a quality hunting experience, and a good chance at a big mature North Missouri Buck. Even in the best Whitetail Country, mature Whitetail Buck are a tough opponent. My passion and most favorite game animal is Mr. Whitetail Buck, if I could hunt only one animal, he's the one and I hunt him more than sixty times a year. Outfitting is not what I do for a living. My passion for deer hunting, controlling and managing more land and leases is my motivation for outfitting. Not to mention being totally setup to do so, owning the lodge and a ranch having access to many leases.
